Are there many good German language hunting/shooting magazines? By chance, are any of these available in the US? Maybe someone has a list of names, web sites, etc I could use as a starting point. I'm trying to get some good insight into the hunting and shooting sports in central Europe and work on my German at the same time. I think it would be very interesting to see the current trends and highlights of hunting/shooting/reloading there compared to here. Just like here, I'm sure some magazines are better or worse than others, so any tips on what to look for (or avoid) would be great also. thanks, maxman

It's a rather partisan field. Qualitywise, I prefer the east German "unsere Jagd", very pleasant tone, very competent (wildlife biology) and not as reactionary as the others. The magazine of the eco-hunters, the "�ko-Jagd", is amusing, witty and always competent. Devoid of the usual lemming mentality. They also have a very nice website.

From the four west German mainstream hunting magazines, I would recommend the monthly DJZ (Deutsche Jagd-Zeitung). They have websites; DJZ and WuH also discussion boards.
