I have got several tikka 595's, on one the stock has seen better days, has anybody got any contacts for a replacement. I would probably go for wood rather than syn.

You could try ringing around various gunsmiths..somebody may well have a take off stock from when a customer has changed to sythetic..I've seen a few such take off stocks in the shop at Minsterly Ranges for instance..

I know you have stated you prefer wood, but I had a 595 that had a broken stock, I couldn't obtain a wooden replacement from GMK unless I paid silly money, so I had a Sako Varmint style stock made by McMillan with a 595 inlett. Very reasonable cost but a long wait (3 months)

An option I think you should consider?

Same story as Andy above, I ve put a MacMillan Sako Hunter onto my Tikka 595, very pleased with it.

When I went to visit Andrew at Riflecraft (http://www.riflecraft.co.uk) in Norfolk last year, he said he buys in his standard rifles complete, then strips off everything from the origional he doesn't want (e.g. stocks) to build up a "Riflecraft" gun.

He mainly deals in Remy 700's and had hundreds of Remy stocks sitting in a container until he found someway of getting rid of them.

I'm sure if you called him he is bound to have a Tikka stock knocking around.

buy direct from McMillan, if you purchase from a UK vendor you will pay the US price exchanged with a pound sign, not a true conversion of the exchange rate.

If you email Kelly Mcmillan on the following address : kelly@mcmfamily.com you will recieve a prompt reply to any question you have.

Bear in mind that there will be a lengthy wait of 3-4 months once you order, but you shouldn't be dissapointed once your package arrives.

I contacted MacMillan direct as they didnt have a Tikka option in their line for a long time, it seems they started to inlet the Sako stocks for the Tikka last year some time. MacMillan offered to supply direct to me, but as it was part of a job that Callum @ PRS was doing rebarreling in 260 etc etc, I elected for Callum to obtain it from MacMillan and bed it correctly, rather than messing up an otherwise good job by doing it myself. Probably isnt a lot of difference in cost by the time you ve paid the postage, duty and VAT on the US sales price, BUT of course you may have the skills to do the bedding job yourself, in which case direct purchase will save a few quid.

I had to wait 3 -4 months for it to be delivered, but that is definitely worthwhile in the end. I am very pleased with the result.
