jbderunzRe: European wild boar hunt with pictures
Ron,
I am an avid boar-hunter in France, Gun and Bow.
This critter is 300lbs dressed, otherwise you both are dwarfs. Age, over 5.
It's really a genuine wild boar. What's puzzling me is the curly coat : it's the first time I see this. Exactly looks like my dachshound when not trimmed, but nothing wrong.
The meat should be red, no sweat about Trichines as long as the meat is well cooked, medium rare, done to a turn.
Yes the tusks come to all sizes. 18 inches or 20 cm is good.
The size depends on the age and genetic. In Turkey or in Spain, boars aren't this big, but tusks aren't bad. In Bulgaria, boars are three times bigger but the tusks not so.
Thousand times congratulations. You can (and must) be proud.

jbderunzRon,
A little mistake :
"Yes the tusks come to all sizes. 18 inches or 20 cm is good."
8 inches or 20 cm is good.
Congratulations, hard to get better boar.

May I say that boars in Iberic Peninsula aren't very big but toothy. In France they may be bigger but not toothier.
More eastword you go, bigger are the boars, but tusks aren't growing accordingly.

What you show me on Shikar safaris prooves that Turkish critters are really large

. I was told the biggest live in Pakistan. When I talked about turkish small boars that's because friends of mine hunted in Turkey and got small and middle critters but damned tuskers.
I hope You agree that Ron's argentinian boar is weighting about 300lbs dressed. I agree to offer my best dog to get such a monster.
