Has legal hunting resumed in Yugoslavia?
I've heard so much about the great hunting that was to be had there, and my parents just visited the country, where they were impressed by the hunting lodges.

Does anyone know if hunting has resumed?

Gentlemen

I have friends who have been hunting in Jugoslavia. The hunting is great, but not int e the same ballpark as Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria or Rumania. Prices in Jugoslavia is high and they havequite alot of extra fee's to skimm some more money out of foreign hunters.

Cheers

There is quite a bit of hunting, both local and foreign going on in the former Yugoslavia. Most, if not all, of Tito's former hunting preserves host both local and foreign hunters.
Most foreign hunters have been shooting Balkan chamois at the Jasen Forest Reserve just outside Skopje, Macedonia. They also have red deer, mouflon, roe, and other species.
There is free range mouflon hunting available in Croatia, on the Adriatic coast.
Serbia has many hunting opportunities for red deer, roe, boar, fallow deer, and mouflon. Check out the Serbian Hunters Union (Lovacki Savez Srbije) website www.lovacki-savez-srbije.com

With a bit of luck, our very own "Mouse93" will join in with the lowdown - at least on the part of Jugoslavia that is now Slovenia.

One area to watch is always going to be the Vojvodina. In different areas, this part of Serbia has produced great reds and roe in the past. Reds in the riparian woodlands around the junction of the Donau and the Drau on the borders to Croatia and Hungary. Roe in the agricultural areas.

Hi guys

I raised this thread as a joke

What I really meant was in a few years the word or country Yugoslavia does not exist anymore

Yes I agree some superb hunting in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia

Can't wait to go back there this winter

I have a good friend that runs some hunting in Serbia at "local" prices, and I was toying with the suggestion for the AR hunt in Feb to go out there this year...

I haven't asked him yet but if it might be of interest then I will ask the question?

Hunting for what, where and what $$$?

The basic interest is there.

I'll call him and see what they have. I know he has access to pigs, reds, and roe as well as moufflon.

I've had a standing invite to go and shoot Moufflon for some time.

I'll make some enquiries and see what we can come up with.

Hi guys - in short - nowadays basics regarding ex-Yu countries.

All except Slovenia are not EU members and above all are outside the Schengen area - so all the problems with passing the border in/out with firearms, bringing trophies along etc. are very much alive.

Hunting is very good, however one would expect the prices to be lower than in Hungary (member of the EU, Schengen country - no border problems with firearms, trophies...), but their prices are on par... Still there are guys going there.

Bosnia - great Brown Bear and Wolf destination - bugger tho they didn't sign the CITES treaty...etc, etc...

So yes, I believe once they drop the prices or enter the EU and Schengen, sign the CITES...

P.S. That doesn't mean it is a "no-go" - some good stuff to be found, however bear in mind the above...

Places like Kopacki Rit:

and Deliblatska Pescara just to name a few:

...just a memory of a herd of 400+ Red Stags from the time before War gives me creeps...

Hi Guys,

I have spoken to my friend out there and he has said that we can get access to boar, Roe, Reds and Moufflon. I have explained that we would be a decent sized group of ten or so bodies and would be looking to hunt for about 3 days. He's coming back to me with some prices.

I'll put somethng up when I get a reply although he did say that Feb would probably be difficult and the best time would likely be in November for the type of thing I described.

Kiri, I was going to say that before Christmas is more usual for this stuff.

The deer seasons mostly finsih around the end of the year and the pigs finish at the end of January.
