RobinOLocksleyBuying a Gun from UK and Flying Back With It
Friends,
A Lithuanian friend of mine intends to buy an English SXS in UK and fly back with it.He is still a student and actually selling off his two guns to afford this gun( which is again not very expensive but he has his heart set on it). So he is very keen to know the rules. I appreciate if you could educate me about the process.Thank you in advance.

Fallow BuckYes to what LH said.
The last two years have resulted in the entire register of firearms going in and out of the country going onto a computerised database.
Any gun leaving the UK by way of RFD will need a UK export permit. This is easily obtained and very inexpensive, but removes the chance of a gun being impounded.
I know many will say that it is not the case, but customs are really tightening up and a friend has just received a call and visit from UK customs to talk about the guns he has been travelling with.
Your friend will then need an RFD to carry the firearm or a friend with a valid SGC to pass it to the possession of customs.
I can't shed any light on the other end though!!

Fallow BuckNo worries mate, We're in the middle of dealing with HMRC now over import export and they have generated some very definite opinions about how things should be, which is fine as long as they let you know and you can follow the rules!!
By the way if the gun has any VAT paid on it then make sure you keep the VAT receipt so should the gun come back to the UK at any time you don't have to pay another 20%.

NakihunterCould someone please let me know what the rules are to take a gun out of the UK. I live in New Zealand and it is easy to get an import permit in just an hour.
Can I visit the UK, buy an gun and fly out with it in my luggage?
