Mariogrouse shooting in scotland?
I'm planning with a buddy a long week end in Scotland for Sept 2014. 2 days of grouse shooting over pointers and maybe one of stalking. I'm looking a nice estate, with a very good accomodation for the wifes, not very far from Edinburgh or Glasgo,w with reasonnable prices. Interested in not more that five brace a day. Any suggestion will be appreciated

Fallow BuckMario,
We have been seeing anything from £250 per day to £450 per day for walked up grouse. The higher end of the spectrum tends to be inclusive of other species like mountain hares, and has slightly bigger bags.
We will be shooting in the last few days of September and the first week of October. However we will be in Aberdeenshire on the east side.
I never thought I would afford it so never really looked into it but given the volume of shooting you get and how sporting a target late season grouse are (especially in a wind) I think they are great value. It isn't all 200+ brace days, and fully driven days can be had for sensible money. I started last year and can't wait to get back again.

Kiri

Mariothanks guys.
I had in mind an earlier hunt (early Sept)because of the climate and for other reasons. 250/day should be not bad.
