Rail Mounts
Here is a rail mount from Zeiss I just did on my .222 Rem. I love it, clean lines, no rings!

Best mount system available, and clean looking to boot. No trouble getting reticle straight, no undue pressure on scope tube, more leeway to position mount around (under) reticle "tower", easy to mount, easy to take off, no ring marks on scope. Best system! The new Swaro and S&B clones of the internal Zeiss rail are supposedly good as well

Aleko is it a 2.5-10x50?

I'll second Mike on that. Rail scopes have been my favourites for years.

D99 it is a 3-12 x 56mm. I agree, I think the rail is perhaps the best way to mount a scope. Next up is my .375!

Are you going to put a 1.75-6x42 Zeiss Illuminated on the 375?

I am going to do that on the 9.3x62 if they Spanish ever get the issue resolved.

I was planning on the 1,5x6x42 reticle #4 or an S&B Zenith. I would consider the new Swarovski with the rail if the eyerelief was 90mm or better

Are there ways to get a rail mounting sytem attached to a scope that didn't come with it. or is one limited to Zeiss, Swaro, and S&B?

I think that a rail on the scope and matching bases that link up to a MIL-STD-1913 rail would be the ultimate in flexibility.

Andre, all those scopes are really set far back. You must never shoot prone or with a sling for support......

HP The short answer is no, but you can get them from KAPS and Docter as well.

Correct HP, I rarely if ever shoot prone. Most of my shots are taken offhand with head erect (drive hunting), from a stand or from a stick or limb (sitting & stalking).

Do those scopes have pretty unforgiving eye relief?

Swarovski's website does not go into detail as to how that mounting system works. Can you direct me to another website where I can learn more about it?

Thanks.

I don't know of one. It's similar to the way MIL Rails, I guess is the best way to descibe it.

Tongue and groove? The scope is locked to the mount instead of being crushed by it.

The only bad part about it is you only get that strength from having the rifle machined to accept said scope mount.

If your using a rail mount base and it's just bolted on, your not getting all the strength of the system.

They're all Swarovski, eye relief 80-90 mm (3-3.5"), no problem. Apart from my double rifle where the claw bases are brazed on (very expensive), fit of mounts to receiver is perfect. I use Blaser and EAW mounts, they don't come cheap but quality is top.

Aleko,
I really like the Illuminated circle dot reticle in the Swarovski 1.5-6x42.
Due to its design ie. the circle AND the dot are illuminated it works great at all powers 1.5 to 6.
