Re: Sauer 202?
Pete, the Sauer 202 is indeed an excellent gun and has one of the smoothest actions I know. I think there is only one Sauer 202 with a synthetic stock called Outback with a fluted barrel and aluminium system:

But Sauer these days builds kind of customized guns so your friend could probably also get a "normal" 202 with steel system and the synthetic stock.

With regard to the length of the stock I think you can fit different thicknesses of shoulder pads - not sure about the availability of spacers.

An alternative would be for me the Sauer 202 Alaska with a laminated wood stock - also very robust.

One other remark - the safety of the 202 next to the trigger is really unusual - better check if your friend likes this!

I know lots of people that really love their 202s, great accuracy and a smooth action to boot. I haven't heard anything about stock's breaking, but if your mate wants a tupperware stock that shouldn't be a problem anyway. The black stock can easily be mated to a longish recoil pad, thus saving custumisation work, I don't believe 202s are particularly cheap, but well worth the cost!
