BoghossianMoon Phase
Guys - I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the moon phase affecting deer movement?
I still haven't formed any clear opinions on this but 'think' I see less deer when it's a full moon. I should probably keep a log or diary, but lets face it that never happens so I was hoping to benefit from your collective experiences....

brass thiefI think they are more active at night with a strong moon, allowing them to lie up more during the day.

Claret_DabblerI think the full moon effects most animals in the same way. They feel secure out feeding and travelling all through the night, rather than concentrating their activities in the hours around dawn and dusk.
This definitely applies to wildfowl, and also foxes. I am sure deer behave similarly.
Sam, how the hell are you?

Arild IversenNorway have a long tradition hunting red deer and roe deer during night/full moon, prefereably with frost/snow on the ground.
My experience is that they tend to come out in the open a good bit later at nights with full moon, compared to when it is dark/overcast.
Generally speaking, the red in my neck of the woods seems to be a bit more alert when there is a full moon.
