MatabeleFirearms ownership in Austria
Hi all,
Im emigrating to Austria next month and was wondering if anyone in the know could shed some light on the rules and regulations of gun ownership in Austria?
Is one able to own handguns and revolvers, and what category do falling block rifles and bolt action type hunting rifles fall under (I ask this as I have a couple of rifles of these types I would like to import and use in Austria if possible)? Are they restricted in any way to own?
Thanks!

Big Bore FanI don´t know everthing about the gun owning in Austria, but a little bit.
For handguns and revolvers you need a permit. The permit you get only with an exam and an psychologic test (?). With this permit, you can buy two own handguns. For more, you need a "good reason", like you are a target shooter.
Long arms, also rifles and shotguns are free at 18 years. But since the European registration act, this arms must be registratetd. This can be done by every gun owner viá internet or by the gunsmith. Only forbidden guns, are all full autos, and a few semiauto rifle. And pumpguns!
Buying ammo or gun powder for reloading isn´t a problem. Propelant you can buy about 18 years.
What you need for the import into Austria, I don´t know.
Martin
PS: Please corrects me if I'm wrong!
