HenrikRe: Pressure for 8x57IRS in modern double rifle?
Hermann,
there are as you have said so many projects and so little time

I have started the search for a 450/400 3" already. At least in some aspects we seems to think along the same lines.
My 8x57 IRS will be used for european game and then I will obviously "need" a double for the dark continent this is where I would find a place for a good double in 450/400 3"
Best regards
Henrik

aHunterDear Carcano!
Of course you know about ballistics much more than I! But you should also know, that the 8x65RS, with its extremely ( for a rimmed round ) high max pressure is rather ( or totally ) dead!
For a double the 8x75RS ( Grings darling ) or in a single shot Blaser ( ah, shudder ) the 8x68S is available.
I personally would buy a double for European huntinin 9.3x74R! The size of these rounds alone! Could have been named .366 NE No. 2!!
Although I sometimes have bad ( wet? ) dreams about a .450/400 3".
In really bad nights I think about a .450 NE loaded down with .45-70 bullets and fed with Trophy Bonded Sledge Hammers sometimes down south ...
Anybody on these boards who thinks a 350 grs RNFP, little bit speedier than from .45-70, wont down an Elk or big boar?
Must finish, too much ideas, too little time and money :-(
Hermann
Where is Ray to back me up??
