Well guys,

I've come out of therapy and managed to lay my demons to rest. Unfortunately it was all triggered offf when I was going through the pictures for the weekend and came accross this............. I think the caption, "It seemed like a good idea at the time" fits quite nicely!!

Anyway about another 50 pigeons are still alive due to the previous evenings festivities!!

Byt the way, it was about -3c and tyhere were a few bemused italians and suffolk beaters getting ready for the hare shoot.

Ummm, maybe I'm glad I didn't make it...

Mr.G was that a flock of tame turkeys that had wandered off from a farmyard?

Would be great to get an established population of ferals....

Looks like a turkey:

Rather than a guinea fowl:

Mr. G
boghossian,

about those birds...i was told they were turkeys by the guy who drove us to the highseat. they were wandering randomly aroud when we first came, both inside and outside of the fence. there was a feeder just next to the fence aswell. i don't know if they were tame or not. from the picture it seems like there might be some of those guinea fowls too.

i'm not so much into birds over there Smiler

There wefew peacocks/hens kicking about and the guineas are usually kept as alarm birds around the pheasant pens. They make a racket when a fox is in the area and put all the pheasants on alert.

Those in the picture look like turkeys to me though. I nkow of a few shoots that have a handfull in the covers that escaped from the Xmas flock. A mate oof mine was surprised by a couple last year up in Lancashire. He said it was like two Chinooks amongst the pheasants!! Either way, 30g of 5's made sure xmas dinner was sorted for him and the keeper at the end of the drive!! Wink

I'll ask Peter later this week when I speak to him again.

Gabe, sorry, you are correct they are turkeys. I downloaded the photo and blew it up. Definitely turkeys. Though there may be a guinea or peafowl mixed among them.

Norfolk Bronze? Bernard Matthews anyone???
