Sorry ! Expensive ? Are they not issued free ?
They are at least in Rep.of Ireland,Denmark and Sweden.
Anyone have to pay actual loot for theirs ?

Free (as in "gratis")?? HAH! I can see you don't know Switzerland! Anything you want from a public institution is associated with a fee (preferably as high as possible - since public institutions don't have much competition... ).

The sad fact is, that we have to pay CHF150 (approx EUR100) for the initial Euro firearms document - valid for 5 years. After expiry, the document can be extended 2x2 years - each extension will cost an additionel CHF100. Additions to the darn piece of paper seems to be charged at CHF50.

Fortunately, our taxes have not reached EU (Danish, Swedish etc...) levels - yet - so I guess we might still consider ourselves better off outside the EU...

Hi all,

For those of you that will require Temporary import permits for firearms I'd like to get the application in early if possible.

The information required is listed below, so if you could put the details clearly on a sheet of paper I can transfer it all onto the application form. For those of you that have last years TFP then could you also include a copy of that with your details please as it helps show the police that you were valid applicants in the past.

You will also need one of the documents listed in point 16 and the original of your European pass. If you are sending cheques or important documents then please send them recorded delivery, and I will do the same when returning them with your permit.

Application for Visitors Shotgun Permit
1/ Title (Mr., Mrs, Ms, Dr., etc..)

2/ Surname

3/ Forename(s)

4/ Home Address

5/ Home Telephone Number

6/ Fax Number

7/ Date of Birth

8/ Place of Birth

9/ Nationality

10/ Occupation

11/ Have you been convicted of any offence in any court of law?
(if "Yes", give details)

12/ Do you suffer from any medical condition or disability, including alcohol
and drug related conditions? (if "Yes", give details)

13/ Have you ever attended your present or a previous G.P. (Doctor) for
treatment of depression, or any other kind of mental or nervous disorder?
(if "Yes", give details)

14/ Name, Address & Telephone Number of your Doctor

15/ Expected Date of Arrival in Great Britain

16/ Please also include a copy of one of the following:
Valid Firearms or Shotgun Permit from your home country
Hunting Permit
Certificate of Competence
Confirmation of Firearm/Shotgun Club Membership
Please note that if you are resident within the European Community, we require your original European Firearms Pass – not a copy!

17/ List the Shotguns you intend to (or might) bring in:
Make, calibre, serial number & type (i.e. over & under or side-by-side)

I'll send out a series of PM's to everyone detailing what they have their names down for and the costs.

Kiri, I have filled out the application (luckily, I still had the application from last year Smiler ). I'm currently waiting for my EU Firearms pass featuring the rifle I would like to bring. I submitted the application for the pass last week, and I myself need the pass to be ready in a couple of weeks time. Who knows whether the Swiss bureaucracy is willing to deliver within this period, though??

I need the pass for my trip to the US, however, so the earliest I can let you have the original pass might be sometime in November, possibly even December - depending on how long you will hold the pass for??

Man, this idea of sending the original pass to have it stamped really sucks! Typical bureaucratic BS - no connection to the realities of life!

I presume that the information in point 17 also is actual for the rifle one intend to bring, not only for shotgun?

If I remember correctly that was the case last time I made this aplication?

That's right mate.

You need to provide the calibre, action type, serial number etc. Like you do for a shotgun the same details but for the rifle.

Also I will be making these applications valid from the 1st Feb so those of you that are coming earlier for some extra Fallow action will have plenty of leeway.

Hi Anders

I don't especially need the scanned copy , it just helps me show a history to the police of my activities with visiting sportsmen.

If it isn't too much trouble you could send it to Info@athinahuntingtours.com I'll add it to the file for you.

I've so far received StuC's Docs but no others. I will have a look this afternoon when I get home to see if there is anything that arrived today.

Hi Kiri,
There will be a small delay concerning the papers, some asshole burglarized my house some days a go, Hi didn’t get much, the alarm went off, but he managed to steel the passports, my firearms license and some other small stuff.
My guns and other stuff that matters, are safe.
I will have the papers in my hands by the end of this week

Gents,

could those of you that have not done so yet please get the paperwork organised for the temporary permits please as I need to get this process moving. It is a group application so we are only as fast as the slowest member!!

Also could we start getting cheques in please. I have only received one so far, and time is getting on. For the continental freinds that don't use such archaic systems, I will get you the bank details for wire tranfers this week.

Pete, could you make this a sticky please as we are getting close now.

Thanks,

I'm looking forward to this trip. Has there been any movement on getting all the documentation? Also Kiri, you still need to send me the account details where you want your funds paid.

Hi Guys,

Stu, I will check how the documentation is looking when I get home this week. I think we are stil waiting for a fair few people to get the paperwork to me.

Kim,

I'll PM you detiails for the paperwork.

I'm stuck in Cyprus this week with what my wife thinks is a cold and I maintain is Wild Boar Flu, but either way the doc wouldn't let me fly home yesterday. The upshot is that I get another week of BBQ's and lie-in's in the morning so it isn't all bad!!

Unfortunately we had some great sport planned over the coming week where I will now miss out on but I hope Trapper and Smallbore wil post a couple of pics for us all to enjoy.

Merry Xmas and best wishes to you all, & may 2010 see you all in good health and shooting straight.

Anders,

This is a good point. Although the estate has not specifically requested this I think it would be prudent of everyone to make sure that make arrangements along those lines. The annual membersip is not expensive and will haul your arse out of the finre in the event of a problem.

We are getting close now and I'm just waiting for one more set of details for the temporary application. I speak to the estate regularly and they are all ready for us. I'll be going up there on Sunday next week to visit the accomodation and allocate rooms, so I'll try and post some pictures too if the ducks and geese oblige!!

Hi Mate,

Sorry for the delay, but we are in Silly Season for shooting now, but only a week to go before we can ease off a bit.

We will be shooting on the Ampton Estate in Suffolk which is just north of Bury St Edmunds. We will be staying in Livermere hall for the weekend.

I'm up there on S?unday so I should be able to tell you more then.

The Temp Permit applications went in this mng, and so we should all have the required paperwork in place well in time.

I will arrange the postcode and a link to the AA website, (not alcaholics anonymous yet..) where you can get specific directons depending on where you are arriving from.

Has anyone spoken with Steve Malvierni recently? I didn't receive his paperwork in time so I had to submit without it in case everyone was held up. I've sent PM's with no reply so I hope he is OK.

Nonsense...One of them is a most saintly man. See, he has a halo! Smiler

The food there (Breakfast, Shooting lunch and Dinner) was good and plentiful and we probably didn't eat half of what was served up.
I think the wine was good, I certainly drank plenty of it....
Accomodation good but Country House so don't expect en-suite and minibars.

Hi Guys,

I've been upto the estate yesterday with a few guys for an afternoon on the Ducks. We had a great time and shot "a few" ducks before heading back home. I saw 3-4 munties out on the fields as I drove round the shoot and the highseats that I saw were all in good order as I would expect from them.

The House is 10 Bedrooms with shared accomodation. Side entrance with a drying room and toilet and plenty of bathrooms through the house so ity doesn't matter if gerry is hogging the bathroom in the morning!! For those of you looking at shooting pigeons there were lots about already and the covers were still standing so I'm looking forward to shooting a few of those myself.

I expect we will need to meet there at about 11-30 to 12 to allow everyone to get settled in and say their hello's before heading out for the evening. I will make sure a postcode for sat-nav's is available which should help everyone get there in good order.

Kiri

I'm not coming on the AR weekend (skiing instead) but I was with your leader yesterday on his inspection visit.

I think you will all enjoy the house....very nice indeed, a real piece of Old English Country House style.

We did shoot a few ducks...but we left a few unshot, shame they won't be in season for you.

I was somewhat surprised that Kiri booked this place though. I know the sporting side will be great and the house comfortable....it is just that as it is owned (and leased out) by The Temperance Society there is a covenant forbidding the consumption of alcohol and tabacco. That seems a shame given the folks going, but I guess a price worth paying for the sport
