Rutting Roe Buck information
Hi everyone,
I am trying to write an article for the sporting press regarding top tips from both professional and amateur stalkers in relation to hunting roe bucks in the rut. I am hitting a bit of a brick wall in getting hold of the professionals as they all seem to be very busy at the moment and I thought I might get some interesting quotes for the article by opening it up to AR members.
I am looking for information on things like calls and calling, high seats, stalking techniques, shooting positions, basicaly anything you think might help people to be more successful.
If you feel you have a good tip to offer please feel free to post as long as you are happy that what you say might be put into print. Please also provide a bit of background info on your experience, whether amateur or pro and where you live/hunt.
I look forward to reading your contributions.
Many Thanks,
Paolo

just wondered what is in it for me

i hav spent years chasing Roe
getting up at all hours sometimes not even sleeping some nights as daylight hours are so long and then you hav to prep your spoils for the larder by the time you hav finished it is back out again for the morning stalk
and i am just a recreational stalker

if there are those out there that need tips to make the rut more successfull then sorry but they need to do a bit more leg work of their own , than instead of relying on others to help
the rut is a time when Bucks are stupid and esay to stalk and shoot , if they need help in that well
i'm lost......

nothing against you Paolo just the idea

You describe yourself as a Sporting Agent here in the UK, and cannot write a 1500 word article on your area of expertise?
I'm confused, I assumed you would have to have at least a working knowledge of your subject - before offering your services to paying clients.
Good luck with your article, sorry I cannot help you write it.

GhubertPaolo,
I think the issue is that you have 5 posts on AR in a year and a half, 4 of them selling something.
Perhaps if you had given a little more to the community, they would be a little more willing to give something back.
Good luck with the article nonetheless.

1894mk2My top tip is to get a Buttalo call and to practice with it a lot in the month of May on your ground so you can educate the bucks to get to know the tone of your own call.
It's important to do it on your own ground and to use the same call. When the rut comes around in June you will have the greatest chance of success.
It's vital not to go on past June as the bucks become wise, any that survive will not come to the call the next year if you carry on.

Lincs StalkerPaolo, how much will be you paid for the article £100 perhaps £150? Perhaps it would be easier for your editor to recruit contributors directly from this forum, then those who do the work get the dosh. I know that might be how our MPs work, but here in the real world…………………
