GhubertI don't wish to make light of this terrible, terrible tradgedy but feel that the following
quote:
It is the second incident involving marauding animals in Augsburg in recent weeks. In February, police in the city spent hours chasing four zebras that had escaped from a circus.
indicates a certain laisse-faire on the part of those responsible for making sure these animals remain locked up

Heads should roll!
Regards,
Amir
Utterly appaling. I'm just not sure anymore what is going to happen in light of these type instances.

Absolutely! The only reasonable solution is to tighten gun laws!

As a start that would be a start.
Perhaps the animals should be de-tusked and painted orange to further enhance "safety"?

Claret_DabblerWhat I want to know is, how do you get the gig as "city hunter"??
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Steve MalinverniExcuse me, maybe a little bit too tired, but I am afraid to misunderstand......A BLOODY TRAGEDY?????
For me it is a bloody tragedy the unlucky bombing operation that caused 100 dead people in Afganistan, the never ending migration on rotten boats that often are wrecked in te middle of the sea and so on, or the car accidents caused by the road crossing wild game tha can cause victims too, as some time happens here in Italy.
The anti hunting define the shot down a tragedy, we should call it a sad necessity .

Jeff SullivanWhere I live, we have hogs rooting up yards in town on a daily basis, and they prefer the ones with sprinkler systems. It is against the law to discharge a firearm inside the city limits, but I have a friend who hunts hogs in his parent's yard with his archery tackle.
The funny thing is that the neighborhood that has the most trouble is full of $250-500,000 homes with THOUSANDS of dollars in landscaping, and those people are PISSED.

Jeff,
Don't you know it! Here msot Golf Courses are not inside City limits. They are the first to give us a call when the Porkers start rooting up their Fareways & Greens.
Dom!
Augsburg shoulda called us a coupla weeks ago - we coulda saved all that Air Ticket money & Daily Rate fees to Namibia and collected out Zebra Rugs here!

Cheers,

I remember chasing three elks around town on my bicycle as a kid. One nearly flattened me

Luckily it ended well, the police sedated them and took them back to the forest.
A year or two ago a big bull was "wintering" in the city's open air museum (a 84 hecatare forest-park smack in the middle of suburbs). It was quite a docile fellow and the authorities took it easy too. He was like a little 1000 lbs shetland pony. Don't know what happened to him, might be still there...
