MOA TACTICALI lived and hunted in Spain and Italy, and lived in Greece and Turkey.
I also hunted in Germany.
Judging from what I have seen advertised over the years and the many books I have read on the subject the answer is "it depends".
On what species you want to hunt and what you want to see tourism wise.
Depending on the country there is quite a bit of Summer hunting for marmots, chamois, wildboar and roe deer, and limited hunting for "fat stags" (pre-rut red stags).
Christmas time will offer wildboar, chamois, fallow bucks, roe deer, wisent, ibex, and maybe some bird shooting.
Here's a sample itinerary, but I haven't done anything like this as I lived there year round. I have also not hunted in Austria.
1. July Program
Fly to Vienna arrange for tours of the Alps, Munich, Salzburg, Lichtenstein and then take the train to Paris. In Austria hunt chamois, roe bucks and marmot. Borrow rifles from the outfitter so you can travel.

Fallow BuckGerry,
Come to the UK. You can hunt and your family can have easy access into town. You might even fancy a couple of days in the City going round the gun shops etc.

Arild IversenWithout doubt UK.
So much to go for both in the hunting/stalking ways, not to mention places to see and things to do.
The gentle rolling English countryside...just magic

Fallow BuckGerry,
Spain is also a good choice for a mixture of shooting and sightseeing, (not to mention tapas and fino!!)
You didn't mention if you were looking to hunt with a rifle or shotgun though?

I understand you. I also don't like "normal" holidays.
Ok here are countries that I would recommend for hunting & tourist:
-UK
-Croatia
-Spain
-France

joesterLooks like some truly affordable French chamois ( near Nice) and roebuck ( northwest of Paris) are offered by Arjun Reddy. Check out his post a several weeks back on "hunts offered". I'll be headed to Nice later this year for those chamois!

londonhunterMay I suggest Belarus ?
last wild place In Europe
I might step on a lot of toes here but you really go back a few centuries when one hunt over there
Do some research yourself
Go before the outfitters get there en masse

Belarus offers excellent hunting but I doubt gerrys family would enjoy a stay there
