"Gold Medal" Fallow Deer Hunt Questions
As I mentioned in a previous thread, next week I'll be hunting Fallow deer, Red deer, Mouflon and boar in Spain.

The donated hunt that I bought includes a "Gold Medal" Fallow deer with Medal fees paid.

What constitutes a "Gold Medal" Fallow deer? What trophy measurement system is used to determine Gold status? Is there a Silver and Bronze status as well?

As a practical matter, how do you judge a Gold Medal Fallow deer under hunting conditions; number of points, antler length, antler spread, palmation?

It would also be very helpful if someone could address the same questions about field judging Red deer and Mouflon.

I have never hunted in Europe before and have never seen any of these animals in the wild.

Any tips you could provide to help me prepare for this new hunting experience will be greatly appreciated!

Mark,
I don't have the trophy book with me, I have it on my car, but I bring it with me when I arrive at home and I'll give you the data that you need.
At the second question:
quote:
Is there a Silver and Bronze status as well?

The answer is yes.
For Mufflon a judging is to understand if the horns make a complete turn, it is good, if after the turn the round go over the eye it is very good.
more news later. bye

Mark,

Take a look around the Deer UK and the British Deer Society sites below as they have info and pictures of Red and Fallow deer.
