BoghossianMouflon
Hi guys!
My father just e-mailed me these pictures of a great old mouflon he shot in the Czech republic last week. It scores 230 CIC pts for those who care.
It was shot with a 7x57 at approx 150m on the 3rd day of the hunt.
Sorry for the poor quality, but these are stills from video taken from the kill.
Here are the sheds of the best red deer on the property. Obviously he is kept as a 'stud' and the head gamekeeper said he probably wouldn't be harvested until 2008. For me the antlers look like they are already going back...I wonder if he will be anywhere as impressive by then.
The mass at the crowns is the most impressive part for me.....as well as the 20 odd points of course!!
I had to give some forceful advice to get my father to have the mouflon mounted, I am sure he won't regret it though.
Gabe
P.S. The rifle was an old Brno with a 6x nondescript scope and post reticle.

Gerryboss.....
Thanks for posting the pics.
Waidmannsheil to your Father on a very immpressive Mouflon Ram!
Yeah, those sheds are pretty nice also, like you said there's some real mass up top! The Trophy Fee on that one is gonna be "Sticker Shock"!
Cheers,

Claret_DabblerI sat in a high seat at midnight in the first week of January past in the CZ Rep. It was at least -10deg, maybe -15. I watched a great Moufflon, I am sure not as good as your old man's, for about 40 minutes. I would have loved to have punched his ticket.
Unfortunately, they were out of season.
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

9.3 riflemanCongratulations to your father for taking a great animal. You've got to love the old 7x57 -it is one of the very best.

BoghossianDoes anyone want to give a guess on the weight of those sheds?
BTW I don't know what they weigh myself, just that it is an easy gold medal.

Gabriel

ErikDCongratulations with your Dads amazing Mouflon!
I wish we still had Mouflon here in Norway...

Wendell ReichOh my! That Mouflon is a TOAD!!!
That is the biggest one I believe I have ever seen.
07 September 2006, 19:07
BoghossianI know Wendell, that was my reaction. I shot a 208.5 point ram there about 3 years ago and felt very very fortunate. The mass on this thing makes it look like a bighorn.
The hunting area is very well managed and only a couple large stags and mouflon are taken there each year, the rest of the hunting being for culls only.
Dad told me that both sides had been broken off with maybe 5+cm lost on the left side.
I'm glad he's getting some nice hunts in cause he retires in December and then I'm supposed to be footing the bills

TrackersNZThe Red Stag: Maybe 10-11 kg???
...."At some point in every man's life he should own a Sako rifle and a John Deere tractor....it just doesn't get any better...."
20 September 2006, 14:36
BoghossianThanks for the estimate TrakersNZ, do you think that the animal is going back? When I saw the slightly dull bez tines and the general look of the antlers I was fairly sure the stag was up for being shot soon, but it turns out he is being saved until at least 2008.

Sorry, I have little time to roam any forums. I am most pleased that Your father bagged such an fantastic trophee .
I know the moufflon, I hunted quite a few but this one is far above what one can ever dream of.
Just look at the breadth. Horns about 1m. A wild dream coming true.
Very bad news for Your father. Absolutely no chance he ever meet better moufflon.
congratulations again.

Be careful when blindly following the masses ... generally the "m" is silent

Monastery-ForesterWe are happy to have some mufflon in our area, but the big ones are reserved for our clients, the best from this year had 210 points, not so big like this absolute great one.
In october, I shot a 180pointer in CZ (and two Sikas).
For a good, 200Pointer you have to pay little over 2000Euro in our area.
