european fire arms licencse
Let me rephrase, I'm coming from the USA. My host has said he would ge back to me. But I'm getting a bit nervous, as I read somthing that said it would take six weeks. I am planing on going in two months, so I'm cutting it a bit close.

Claret_DabblerEny, sorry, I assumed you were in Europe. The European Firearms Pass is issued by member states to their own citizens travelling with firearms to other EU states. To enter most EU states, notable exceptions being UK and Ireland, this is all you require.
Your French host will have to arrange whatever paperwork is required for a non-EU national to enter with a firearm. I would put serious pressure on him now, as these things can take a few weeks to arrange.

Fallow BuckAlso make sure the calibre you are bringing is not on the prohibited list.

Claret_DabblerFB, good point.
Eny, no current (or ex) military calibres can be used in France, so no 308, 30/06, 223 or 8x57 etc.
Eny,
I would not be surprised if all you needed was a written invitation to go hunting. Show up at the airport (assuming you are ONLY travelling to France - forget other countries like UK or Germany), show your rifle and your invitation and away you go. Alternatively, French Customs might want to see a hunting license valid in France.
Now, the REAL thing to do here, is to try to get in touch with some of our French members. They might be able to give you the real lowdown.
Among others, there is "jbderunz"

http://forums.accuratereloadin...ge=profile&u=7891042Either PM or email (since they have listed their e-mail addresses in their profiles) should do the trick. Both are really good people.

Steve MalinverniI heard recently that for foreign hunters invited in France there is the possibility to use also the forbidden calibers. Better to ask also this.
