DUKAffordable female Ibex in Gredos, Spain
Anyone interested in a unique and affordable experience hunting female ibex in central Spain's Gredos mountains, can now directly contact the Gredos landowner's association. The period to request a quota starts January 1st for the 2015 season, after this first period the remaining quota go into a lottery.
My son and I were lucky and got drawn for the 2014 season which goes from January to March. The cost per ibex is 300 €, plus license, tip, lodging, food, wine and so on. The experience is the same, with or without trophy horns and you can always watch the big males and their gold medals dangling around their necks with your binos.
Go there, if you are interested, and say hi! to Cristina:

When will you be hunting? I was asking about female Ibex hunts only a month ago when in Spain.

DUKHello Fellow Buck, we will go beginning of March. I already hunted in Gredos some years ago, then a couple of times in Teruel which is also nice. I find that hunting in Spain due to the crisis has become more approachable and affordable, especially when going directly to the landowners or state administrations.

Indeed the prices are coming down in many areas in Spain and also Portugal.
I just think it is such a beautiful country with great hunting and traditions.
