I have (almost) made up my mind and I am buying a Sauer 202.
Found a Standard model – Elegance, with a very beautiful piece of wood and steel receiver, in 9,3x62.
I have some doubts that, most certainly, the Sauer users on the forum can clear out:

I know by now that changing barrels is not as difficult as I thought, but what about changing to a magnum calibre?
Can it be done just by changing barrel and bolt? Or is it not possible?
If possible, what about .375 and .416? (non detachable magazines?)

I think they are nice too. I just can't pick a caliber.

I was thinking about getting the take down and two barrels one for 375 and one for 300.

It is not possible to use the 9.3x62 action to use a magnum calibre on later. It is the action that is different.

I had to make the same decision, as I liked the idea of a 375 H+H for the future but I was told it is not possible.
Here is the list of possible calibres:

Incidentaly this has identifiedd a problem for me as I was looking at a 6.5x284 for my 308win action but It looks like the former is a magnum actioned calibre....

Mr Martins, as has been stated, there are two action sizes for a Sauer 202, standard with calibres .22/250 to 9.3x62. Magnums, 300win through to 416rigby (I think) require a magnum sized action.

Not sure if standard calibre barrels will work in a magnum action.

By the way, mine is an elegance model and I love it.

My Sauer 202 is proud to announce that last week she has just harvested 2 bronze medal chamois and 1 (+almost another 1) moufflon, with the 300WM barrel. A pity this rifle was without me in the Alps.
In 2 months I'll be in the CAR, thus this week end I'll rig the 375HH barrel up and zero in. During the driven hunts I'll train as much as possible.

A magnum action for magnum calibres. The same for the take-down.
The same for her sister-rifle the Sauer200.

Sorry to ressurect this but I have just got off the phone to the UK importer of Sauer Rifles.

We've probably already said this but I thought I would add some prices for comparison.

It seems that the only thing that is not interchangable on this rifle is a medium caliber onto a magnum action and vice versa. All other components are interchangable (except a few occasions where a new bolt is required for different calibres. However for example my 308win bolt is the same as the 6.5's and 7mm calibres.

What I also found out is that the stocks are fully interchangable too, so if you have a nice piece of walnut and are off for some rough and tumble type hunting, then you can have a spare synthetic stock for these scenarios. Cost is around £280 rrp for the Outback Synthetic stock and spare barrels are about £380 for a standard barrel and £645 for the Fluted lightweight version

Taking the advantage of this “resurrection†let me inform that I have picked up my new Sauer 202, in 9.3x62, from the gun shop, yesterday.
I will install the Apel mounts this week and hope to have time to take it to the range during next week for the first shooting test!

One thing to keep in mind is not to over tighten the fore-end onto the action. this sometimes has the effect of the wood intermittantly touching the barrel and effecting accuracy. when you get the tension right you won't need to play with it again.

FB, this would suggest then that all take downs are built on magnum actions?

fallow buck and others i have jusst been ofered a sauer 202outback =243 it has fired allof 20rounds,
it allso comes with apel mounts and leopold scope not sure which model, and it is allso screw cut for T8, any idea what it would be worth ??

I'm not sure about that. If you look at the link it says something about combinations in the extra sets list. medium to magnum and magnum to medium.

There must stil be some differentiation between them although I can't work out the details. You might have better luck!!

I have seen 375s in the Germanic stock is it still possible to get this rifle in the takedown?

No the Take down and regular barrels are not interchangable. They have a different attachment mechanism to eachother.
