CZ actions/Meopta scopes from the Czech Rep
I live in the USA. I have a friend who is going to be in the Czech Rep on business over the next 2 weeks and was wondering if he could buy CZ actions there for any cheaper than we can get them here? What about Meopta rifle scopes? Thanks for the info.

Claret_DabblerCan't speak about the CZ actions, but I was in Prague in January past and went to the CZ shop off Wenceslas Square. Both CZ rifles and Meopta scopes were more expensive there than I can buy them for here in the UK or Ireland.
It may be different out in the sticks, as the Czechs we spoke to all thought Prague to be unaffordable.
Perry,
My experience similar to Brian's. The CZ store is always a good place to have a look-see. The one time I was there (years ago) the store was complete Chaos with about 50 people waiting to be served by three Sales Staff.
They were willing (prior to their entry into the European Union, read: early 1990's) to sell me anything they had in the store which was their complete line of Pistols, Rifles & Shotguns.
At that time the exchange rate was excellent and they would have been a bargain.
I doubt sincerely that they would have single, unbarreled action for sale at the store.
I'm not sure what the regulations are in the Czech Republic, but in France for instance I believe only a gunsmith can buy an unbarreled action. In France you can buy a barreled action once it has been proofed and the proofmark stamped onto the barrel and I did buy a CZ 550 Magnum barreled action that way.

Steve MalinverniIf I had to go to Czech Rep I would contact Brno, looking for vz24 actions.
Try to contact them, here you can find their addresses:
