mhoFrench Hunting Hat??
Dear French/Alsatian members, I need a bit of assistance... (JB, you listening?)
I have always fancied the Basque hats (not sure what the technical term is??), they used to be pretty much a standard hat in France and parts of Spain, I guess. Nice and floppy, easy to stick in your pocket. They are pretty easy to find colours such as bright red or the ubiquitous black. Does any of our French (Alsatian?) members know of a place to buy one of these in the typical European "hunting green" (i.e. loden or olive) colours?? Somewhere in the Alsace would be ideal (not too far from Switzerland).
Thanks a bunch in advance

Juan Carlos JobetMike, they are called "boina" in Spanish or "beret" in French and English.
Cannot help you on where to get one though, I am in Santiago-Chile.

jbderunzHi mho,
Sorry we didn't met in France to hunt.
BTW I am no Alsatian, I work in Alsace but was born in Paris. My grandfather was a basque even if I was born in Buenos Aires. Nobody is perfect. I even know a Dane, wonderfully speaking English, livine in Switzerland.
Here some links. It will be a pleasure to pick any beret you ask me and sendt it to You.
beret dark brown sizeKind regards

mhoYo Guys, yeah the hats look about right - not sure about the dog

. Colour still not quite what I had hoped for, but maybe we'll find one in the end. At least I now know the proper french term "beret" - I had associated that name with the military version of the hat...
