In my neck of the woods they generaly cast late spring/summer. My last guest shot 3 bucks in August all of which were in velvet.

I find them in velvet from April through to August. The current warm weather means that many of the does are in advanced stages of pregnancy. A cold snap is going to result in a lot of fawn mortality.
