WinkNorma Powders in France
Perhaps some of our French friends can clear up a mystery for me. In France one can buy powders under the Vectan label (Nobel Sport) for reloading and we are told they are made in France. One can also buy VihtaVuori powders and we are told they are made in Finland. I called RUAG Ammotec (the Norma importer) to order Norma powders and they said that they cannot import powders to France because only French made powders are legal for sale. So, are VihtaVuori powders made in France or is the Norma importer just ignorant of the restrictions on powder importation?

WinkDaniel M,
In France you can mail order VihtaVuori powders from
www.tecmagex.com and
www.espfrance.com although they may not appear on their web sites. Get their catalogs or send them an e-mail for more detailed information. In the Paris area you can buy VV powders from FMR in Pantin and sometimes from Tir 1000 in the 14th arrondissement.

Edmondthe market is simply too small for some other brands especially when considering the red tape involved, the necessity of a safe storage by quantity and the special containers used to ship canisters.
For theses reasons I do not stock powders.

WinkEdmond,
Yes, I have since come to understand the storage and transport requirements which undermine the profitability in a small market, told to me by another source as well. The French and Finnish powders cover all my needs anyway so it's not a major problem. On the other hand, it would be interesting to know which French powders, if any, are sold with just a name change in the USA. The wealth of reloading experience and documentation from the US could then be used.
