It's dirty job, but.........
It falls to me to do it.
Next Tuesday I fly off to Montana for a month, during which time I shall be forced to spend a lot of time shooting a whole lot of different gun's of different calibres at creatures I have never seen in the wild before.
I am off to visit my pal in Montana for a month, just him, his son and me. I don't even have to take any guns with me as he has, as he takes great delight in telling me whenever he can, more than enough for the both of us.
Like I said, it is a long way to go, but I am willing to make the sacrifice.

JAYB, save your airfare, I heard that due to a recent cold snap all creatures in Montana have gone back into hibernation and aren't expected to wake up until after you arrive back in Scotland. Waidmannsheil, Dom.

They'll have an arsenal beyond your imagination! We don't have conspiracy oriented FLO's in the US! Ask about the "Second Amendment to the US Constitution".
Have a great time and prepare youerself for a land so vast you almost cannot comprehend it. A digital camera is a subtle hint. We expect to see MANY photos!

Jay, whatchya shooting and where in MT?

I know for sure that there will be prairie dogs and coyote in the game plan, along with a little fishing. There will also no doubt be the need for bottle openers and thigh waders, you know, beer and BS, there usually is when we get together. It will just be the three of us having fun. We will do what seems a good idea at the time, no wives and the like to keep us straight, I have one month off from being sensible. We will be in Hardin, which is about 40 minutes from Billings I believe.
Better pack now, so far have only managed boots and camera's (and a bottle opener)

Im of to montana in sept (missoula),bow in 1 hand (elk) rifle over my shoulder (bear) for 20 days, with a bit of horse riding and fishing thrown in for good luck.

You won't be far from where Custer bought it. I too had a run in with one of the "natives". But I survived, and so shall you.
Some people are a lot like Slinkies: They're not good for much but it's kind of fun to push them down a flight of stairs.

Woodrow SJB, I hunted in that area about 12 years ago and shot a monster Whitetail and on the same trip a friend shot a 30" 5x5 muley. Too bad you are not going to be there for the big game season since there is no shortage of these large deer there. You will, however, shoot plenty of dogs and there is a lot of coyotes there as well. We hunted on a spread of 30,000 acres called Myse Ranch. Good luck and have fun.
