In my life I only could see one Nightforce scope; needless to say that here it's a quite unfamiliar brand

Actually owned a 8-32 X 36 BR model, It got mounted and quickly dismounted and sold..

I liked the reticle but did not like the tunnel effect the scope had (lost some money on that deal).

It got swaped for a S&B 5-25 x 56 for the long ranch shooting I used the rifle for, as it has cm clicks rather than 1/8 MOA clicks on the NF.

That particular model is a bit large and heavy for stalking. It is so heavy that its hard to resist canting the rifle when aiming. Excellent scopes for blind hunting ot bench shooting, though.

For general shooting, I think the 3.5-15X56 or X50 would be better. Or even some other maker in 3-12X56/X50

By my opinion another defect is that it is expensive, at least in Italy

I have 3 Nightforce 5.5 - 22 mounted on various rifles. Have found them to be very bright and totally dependable. The only thing I would change if I were Nightforce would be the eyepiece focus. It would be better with the fast focus like S&B, Zeiss or Swarovski.

I have the 3.5-15x56 and 8-32x50.
The 3.5-15x56 is a very, very good scope, the only downside is it's weight and size.

The 8-32x56 is really only any good for target shooting but I have used it for some hunting and had problms with the narrow field of view, and it's lesser light gathering abilities compared to the 3.5-15 as well as the fact that it has a very fine reticule which can be hard to see in poor light.

Have a look at the NF hunting line, I think thier 3 - 10 x 30mm would be a great stalking scope.

They began their business as sinper scopes on big bores.

They are well made, sturdy and their optics are excellent. They are heavy.

They have tried to get into the hunting market with a low power scope. In my opinion, it is pitiful. A low power scope needs objective power. If I recall, they have a 30mm they are marketing. Not enough light gathering in my view.
