Fallow BuckOld fishing picture
A freind of mine has just set up a pair of charter boats out of Southwold primarily for wreck fishing.
He rang me up to see when we were gonna get out together and mentioned this old picture from his site. We spent two days out on the oputer Gabbard 28miles off shore on a 22ft orkney!! There were 5 guys and one bunk!!
The Bass caught that morning were all about 6lbs-8lbs each and I remember thinking that I don't think I'd ever had som much fun at five in the morning!!
Take a look at the gallery on
his site.

GhubertAah, the memories....
When are we going on another trip, that rod you made me buy can't take any more oil or polish!
It needs using!
Janek and I have a competition to decide in any event.

Amir

Trapper DaveYep, its March closing on April and probably time to pencil a few fishing dates in the diary!

DB BillI don't do much fishing anymore but these aee my two favorite photos -- McNeil River Falls, Alaska --- I've caught bigger fish but never "shared" the water with a companion quite like this one.
Neither of us believed in "catch & release"!

Fallow BuckTrapper/Fuzzy,
Yes a couple of dates need to be added to the diary for some fishing in May/June/July.
I'm keen to get onto the bass again as it has been a while. I'l have a word with the rest of the gang from last year and see who's up for it. I still have a box of lures from last year that need to be got wet!!
Any preferences on what we do?

I will be out of action until at least June/July but feel free to explore a few marks beforehand and book in me in on the best for a re-union special.
As for species, I'm not too bothered, Trappa do you have any strong views?
Bass would be interesting but I the cod fishing was great fun.
Shall we say July for Bass for the sake of argument?

Amir

Trapper DaveWell I'm happy to do either or both.
The better half likes Cod so that's always a free pass.
I'm quite partial to Bass, especially at the silly prices the Supermarkets are charging at the moment and that's for farmed stuff!
The key is to get the tides right so that we arrive in the right plaice at the right time.

Is that with the sky nets Solvi?
I saw a televison programme on that particular method and will ask that you arrange for Kiri's attempt to be filmed.

Thank you, thank you and thank you.

Fallow BuckHey Solvi,
That sounds like it would be fun, but with another little Kiri on the way for early September there would likely be a Big Kiri Hunt after the puffin hunt!!
Of course send me a PM with your thoughts and I'l see if I could perhaps come up with a cunning plan!!
Otherwise you can put mme down for 2010!!!
Is that with a gun or the Nets? Both look like fun.
Rgds,
K

solviYes that’s the way we do it. 5m long poles with nets on the end,
some beginners use them to play badminton, using the Puffins as the ball.
We only hunt them with nets in July, but from sept until 1 of May you can shoot them.
I am going to an island north of the Arctic Circle with some friends in late April to shoot some.

Fallow BuckLooks like it will be an early start in those Bass days. Probably a 6am start to get on the wreck with a bit of tide before the others start crawling all over them.
Thanks for that Dave

Trapper DaveDo you think if I get one of these I'll last longer?
