MarteriusI think the general culture in Norway and Finland is slightly more positive to hunting than Sweden, but this is based on rather narrow experience. It is more a feeling based on what kinds of hunting programs I know is shown on TV in these countries etc. Also in Denmark, despite that it is very populated, the culture as far as I understand is very positive to hunting.

DutchJohan, the same way when elk (US red deer) seasons starts in our rural towns. The parent handbook in the high school I attented listed the hunting the first day of elk season as an authorized excuse to be absent.....
You think I could have tried that in Holland? LOL! Dutch.

ErikDMartin,
I'd say that the populations feeling towards hunting in Norway varies greatly between differant regions. Outside urban areas, hunting is very common, but if you ask around in citys (Oslo especially...) the majority of people have distanced themselves from what goes in nature (and often the real world...) and have become anti hunting. They are more into drinking their cappachino, and being "intellectual". Hunters are often looked down upon by them as crude. The sad thing is that more and more people are moving to Oslo and the other bigger citys and loosing contact with their natural heritage. Politics plays a role in this too, since the popular thing to do nowadays is to sya that guns are bad. For a lot of the sheep, oops I mean citizens, hunting equals guns and therefore hunting is evil...
Thank god for smaller towns and rural areas! Where hunting is still a way of life!
