Steve MalinverniI need help by Nordics
English Swedish Finnish Danish Norwegian German Hungarian Italian Spanish Portuguese
Leade Leade Vapaalento Friflugt Friflukt Freiflug Elibetartás Leade Leade Avanço
The above words are taken by a translation archive that contains all the instructions used by Rob's Reloader Organizer, a combination of reloading data storage and ballistics program.
I am looking for the meaning of the word "Leade". It should be Swedish, as the developer, Robert Persson, is Swedish. It has been translated as "free flight" ( or I understood in this way). Can you give me some info about Leade word?
Thank you very much in advance.
P.S. Rob's Reloader Organizer works very well

GerryStefano,
Leade or Freebore is the amount of free space or distance between the end of a rifle's chamber and the beginning of the rifling (grooves) in the bore.
If the rifling started exactly at the end of the chamber, a bullet would always always engadge the rifling (groves) in the bore when you chambered a cartridge (depending on the shape of the bullet and how deeply it is seated in the case).
Some specific chamberings have more/less leade or freebore. An example would be the Weatherby line of chamberings/cartridges which tend to have a longer freebore. It is generally accepted that a longer freebore tends to reduce pressure when a cartidge is fired and the bullet begins to engadge the rifling. Also some claim that shorter freebore increases accuracy.
I'm sure we'll hear in the very near future from some Techies all about exactly what this means!
Hope this helps.

Steve MalinverniThank you Gerry,
I had this doubt because in the same file is definde
Leade in a cell and
Friflykt in another.
I think that the people that did the translation in English, that I used to make the translation in Italian , had the same problem.
In Italian there is not a short description, and Free Bore is commonly used here.
Hi
As from Sweden I cant find the word in our language.
If I change the language setup to English, the only place i can find the word "Lead" in RR is on the ballistic table where it is supposed to tell how much lead you need dependent on target velocity?
Is this it or where else do you find it.
PerN
Hi,
Leade means 2 things in english.
1. The distance you should aim the rifle in front of a running target.
2. The length of the cone between the throat and the lands.
The definitions in America between throat and leade and free bore are not consistant and therefore confusing . My understanding of the terms was that illustrated in the previous post , but that is not always the usage.

Steve MalinverniInteresting both the answers, thank you.
it can be used in two ways, the connection between free bore and rifles, or the "anticipation" (literal translation from Italian) while shooting on target in movement.
have to see where is used in the program.
Thank you again
Friflykt is the Swedish word for freebore

Steve MalinverniAND THE RIGHT ANSWER IS........:
FREE BORE!!.

I verified it putting free bore instead leade, and it works, it appear in the technical description of the rifle.
Thank you again to all of you for your help. Take a look to this application based on a db for shooters, it is not so bad.
