where to go for boar

brass thiefwhere to go for boar
I"ve never shot pigs, and I was reading prices on a French site and they quoted £6/kilo.
The other costs(day rates etc) were ok, but a 100 kg pig is going to cost £600. If I was going to pay that kind of dough, I"d go to the US instead.
I"d prefer to stalk rather than shoot driven, and I have a .308 which I think rules out France(unless I use the .243)
Is there anywhere that has affordable stalked boar, as early as July, that allows .308?
any help appreciated,
good shooting

JohnAirI can offer you a 5 day hunt with 2 pig a day limit and all lodging and food/drink included for 1000 pounds. Stalking, stand or dogs, your choice. The catch is that you have to fly to Argentina.

Claret_DabblerCz Rep, Hungary, Poland are all options.
These will mainly be driven though. I would like to try a high seat again, but I would want to do it in Augest or September, not December or January.
Off to Czech Rep in two weeks. PM me if you want to have a yarn about it.
Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Steve MalinverniWhy not Brian?
if you have snow on the ground, a night with a full moon in the sky, some bait like maize near the high seat, well this is one of the more productive trophy hunts for boars.
If the problem is the cold, well go to Romania, they do not have hight seat in the best hunting areas, but hunting cottages well heated.

Claret_DabblerSteve, I sat out for two nights last January in CZ. Thought I would die from the cold.
A high seat in Portugal I might think about.

Monastery-ForesterYes, you can do it in Eastern Europe, but also - very serious, with good results, not cheap (but a Mercedes is not cheap, too), in Germany and you can use your .308. If you want, send me a mail!

if you want to shoot abroad, you could give croatia a go; I did with excellent results. Look at my thread in hogs, warthogs, wildboar etc, 2 down from this one I think. the thread is croatian boar and you'll see the results, they've got some special offers on at the moment, pm if interested.
However if you want to shoot here in the UK you can't go wrong with john.d.m, I would highly recommend him, he is an absolute gentleman and will make sure you have an enjoyable stalk!

john.d.mThanks Gerry, though I have to say it`s easy to have good stalk and be "gentleman" when you got good clients.
As you know my attitude is all I can and will promise anyone is, I will always do my best to get them a pig, and they will enjoy theirselves.
