Kenneth Anderson??
Just been re reading a couple of Andersons books again.

Does anybody know what Anderson's job was in India and whether he served in WW2? Also, anybody know what became of his son Donald? It strikes me he might be still alive although probably in his late 60's or even early 70's now...

Pete,

He did indeed serve. Here is a link that might answer your question. There is actually very little online information about Kenneth Anderson, or at least not enough to satisfy mine and my father's curiosity about him.

Michael,

Thanks for that. I suspected that he served in some capacity because he kept refering to taking "leave" but it was an eye opener to realise he achieved such rank. It also seems to befit his character that he is modest enough not to actually mention it either...

Michael,

I am not so sure that first reference is correct. Take a look at: http://jnhouterman.greatnow.com/bio/Anderson_KAN.html

This is a different fellow as can be seen from his date of birth and death, but from his service record this chap also ended up a Lieutenant-General in the 1st Army in Tunisia and had spent quite a lot of time in India too..More research needed I think..

Stromberg
Pete,

Kenneth Anderson was born in in Hyderabad in 1910 of a Scottish family that had lived and worked in India for six generations.

He served WWII in Burma, lived and worked in Bangalore (temporary personnel manager, aeronautical industry, but primary unearned income).

He died in 1974 of cancer at the age of 64.

Stromberg,

Thanks for that.

I have done a little more digging today and found out he died in 1974 in his house in Bangalore. The house itself was sold by his family in 1978 and has since been knocked down and redeveloped into offices or something similar. His son moved a few miles outside of bangalore and was still alive up to late last year but was described as being in poor health. Apparently a fan of his father tracked him down only to find he was tired of people asking questions about his father, seems almost as if he was sick of living in his fathers shadow in some ways especially as he was not a well man himself.

regards,

Pete
