GHD and I just returned from our little 2 day outing and had a really good time, though we were only able to hunt a couple of fields because of tall grass. Using my little Tikka T3 .243 (87 v-max @3050 fps) with a 4-12 Vari-X II, I had the two farthest shots- two consecutive instant smokes @ 525 and 531 yards; GHD getting one at 492 with his magic 6mm. I wound up with 8 and GHD 13, several with his .17 Fireball(I call it a furby). A very interesting sideline was shooting at the landowner's target gong(16" disc blade, hanging on chains) with GHD's 6mm Rem 700. He and I both hit that thing a few times in a row! I tried it with my 22-250 (which has shot very accurately out as far as 900 yds) but we couldn't see bullet strikes.
