Thunder HeadDouble !!
Well sort of,I heard a pack of yotes right at dark in a little bit different area than normal a week ago. I went in and set up there about 9:30 in the morning. I called but didnt have any takers. I decided to walk the fence line and see what kinda of sign i could see. When i got to the pond dam there were dog tracks in the mud that still had muddy water in them. I went up to the top of the ridge and setup in my normal spot. I turned rabbit distress on low for 2 minutes, nothing. I turned the sound way up. I was scanning to the right when i came back left there was a yote walking down the fence about a 100 yards away. I got zoomed in and tracked her. When she turned to come under the fence i lowered the cross hairs and let her have one. She crashed over backwards and didnt even flinch. I switched the caller to pup distress. About 30 seconds later i see a yote running up the ridge. I try to get on him as he comes under the fence but was to slow. Hes now running twoards the caller. He fiquers out something is wrong and starts hopping heading away. I take the shot and miss, he makes a circle and starts heading back were he came from. I line up the shot and whoop at him, he slows down but dosent stop. I take the shot and see fur fly, as he disappears over the hill i notice hes running funny. It tracked him through the clear cut for over an hour. I found pieces of bone and a good amount of blood. I hated to loose him but had to go. I doubt he made it but dont like wounding anything, even a yote.
