graybirdAdded a couple more varmint rifles to the gun safe
Said something to the wife not long ago that I needed to buy another rifle, just joking. She said, "Yes, you do. It has been awhile since you've bought one." OH, green light means go in my books!!

I already have a 17 HMR, 22-250 and 243 and wanted something to fill in the gaps. Well, I couldn't decide which rifle I needed to add to my varmint battery. So, I bought TWO new rifles!!
Just got the scopes put on these rifles this afternoon while smoking a pork ribeye. The top is a Weatherby Vanguard in 204 Ruger and the bottom is a Ruger 223. Both wear Nikon Monarch 4-16X42mm scopes with mildot reticles.
Got about 36 different loads (3 powders X 3 powder weights X 4 bullets) worked up for the 223. I may try to hit the range tomorrow. I've bought factory 39 GR Sierra Blitzking Federal rounds for the 204 until I get enough brass to work up my own loads.
Lots of fun in front of me!!

graybirdDamn the colors on the Ruger didn't turn out too well. May need to try tomorrow at the range in sunlight.

D99I handled one of those Mini-14's with that stock, let us know how she shoots.
I like the stock and hate it, it doesn't feel good against my fat face. I wouldn't mind seeing it with a different stock. I do like the barrel though, I guess I like it if it works.
How's the 204 work?

Dr. LouI would be interested to see how your mini shoots. The three that I owned wouldn't shoot minute of barn. I couldn't imagine using one for varmints. The only exception was one that was accurized at some place in Texas.
Every police department that I ran had M-16s when I left. I sold any mini 14s to departments that either didn't know better or couldn't afford better. I like the WBY in 204. It looks like a nice rifle. Lou
