I would get a Rem 700 or a Savage. Nobody in their right mind starts with a Mauser98 if accuracy is the name of the game.

If you just want a cheapo that works just buy a Savage and be happy. If you want to build one use a m98. A good smith can make a very nice looking and smooth working accurate rifle.

The smith I use has been turning out some very nice varmint rigs on Milsurp 98s.
