does anybody have a good load that is quick and accurate from a 22-250 that i can use on coyotes, thanks for the help.

Depends a lot on if you want to save the hides.

If you want a "quick" load then the bullet choice decreases.

I have a few loads just for coyotes.
With a 50gr. bullet IMR4350 39.5gr @ 3510fps ,win 748 39.5gr @ 3850fps.
With a 55 gr. bullet IMR3031 38.5gr compressed @ 3760fps. Win 748 38.5gr @ 3738fps (factory dupe load)
With a 63gr bullet I only have one load IMR 4895 34.5gr @ 3479fps
There ya go. A few loads to start with,Coyotes beware.

i like 35.0 grs of 3031 under a 50 gr. hornady v-max or nosler ballistic tip.
your results may vary.

Varget and a 50gr Nolser B-tip, very accurate. Might be tough on hides.

52 grain Speer hollow point with as much H380 as your gun will handle, most of mine around 38 grains.

38 grains of H380 and a Barnes 50grain Varminator

50gr Sierra BlitzKings with 36gr of Varget.

52gr Sierra HPBT (#1410) with 36.1gr Varget, WLR primer.

34.5 grains of RL 7, and a 40 grain Sierra HP.. or any other 40 grainer of your choice...

MV will be about 4450 fps.... in a 24 inch barrel..

this load is 1.5 grains over the max load listed in the 47th edition Lyman Manual...so work up.. but it has proven safe in my several 22.250s and a few friends who have used this load...

WOW that is some speed!!! How is the accuracy with that load. Now you've got me thinking what kind of speed a 26" tube would produce. Interesting...............

As a follow up to the above have you messed around with any 45g. loads in the 22-250 with high velocity results and accuracy? I just picked up a box of Barnes 45g. moly sold copper bullets in .224 that I was thinking might have some game applications. Any thoughts?

Start out with 32 grains and work up from there Teancum... I would guestimate that it would take the 34.5 grain load... if not, at least the 34 grains...

This load is with fast powder, so you have to watch it carefully in working up or you can hit the wall fast!

If you can live with 33.5 grains, I am sure your brass life will be just fine, and also it should be breaking 4100 to 4200 especially if it is one of the moly coated bullets...

I don't mess with moly, but for those that do, the benefits in velocity seem to be worth it to them...

I went out on saturday to test some loads and tried out the 40g in my 22-250 using RL-7 and at 34.5g I got an average of 4240fps with no hint of pressure. Perhaps my chamber is a little oversize, it's a Rem. Model 700 VSSF with a 26" tube. I think that there might be room to go to 35g safely but will have to wait for another day.

How deep was your bullet seated? and how close to the lands?

If your chamber will take the bullet barely seated into the neck.. your velocity will increase... I'd try that first over adding more powder....

I worked up with using RL 7 to like 36 grains with the 40s... and got as high as 4750 fps out of it... but the case life was about 2 to 3 shots and that was it.. so too much pressure...

I'd keep it at 34.5 and play with the seating depth...
