Here in Pa. we cannot use gun mounted lights. I need something that will work on those nights that I go out alone. Thanks for the help.

P/M me your email I will send you pics of how we do it. IMO My way is better, more stable than using a gun mount. I am in the process of upgrading to a Light Force 6.5 inch. I have the optronics 100 yard and 350 and they are lacking past 80 or so yards on bright nights, full moon or over snow.

Uplandr: For many, many years I (we!) have been using the wonderful spot lights, portable/rechargeable batteries, red and blue lenses, gun mounted lights and other accessories from the good folks "down under" at LightForce.
I highly recommend them and their products.
As far as having something to use by oneself - at night - while calling with one hand and holding a Rifle in the other hand and turning up and down on the rheostat with the other hand and getting ready for the shot (taking the colored lense off the spotlight!) with the other hand well... you are in a fix there Uplandr, and I would not know where to begin to help you out of it!
I have to question the law (regulation, policy,, what ever?) that mandates no gun mounted lights but apparently allows someone next to the shooter (or the shooter?) to hold the light?
I don't see the problem this regulation is aimed at.. so to speak.
I hope that "Blueprinted" has the time to E-mail me - VarmintGuy@aol.com - with his solution to one man doing all the things that need be done while spotlighting at night without including a gun mounted light.
But again the LightForce equipment is second to none and very durable.

I too live in PA and in need of light for hunting alone, am also thinking of buying a Minaska Bandit 1 with side winder to try long range during day light hours.

Blueprinted: I want to thank you again (this time publicly) for your innovative way around that Pennsylvania "weird regulation" regarding Rifle mounted lights!
I have saved the photos of your solution in my documents file and will start gathering "parts" to begin construction of one for myself.

For some strange reason the Pa Game Commission feels it isn't safe for the light to be mounted to the rifle do to the fact the muzzle would be pointed in the direction of the light and thus increasing the chance for accidental shootings. Apparently none of these guys have tried to hold a light,work a call and shoot a rifle or shotgun at the same time. But maybe we can get this regulation changed. Last year they finally approved the use of decoys and bait for coyotes. Guess maybe the deer population is getting pretty low. I quit hunting deer here in PA 5 yrs. ago, as I saw the population be decreasing drastically. Now there are reports and sightings of coyotes everywhere even in the small towns. That is why I am interested in hunting coyote.

Blueprinted I sure would like to get a visual on your idea.

The law has been real gray for a few years. It was written for laser sights. Shot me a PM with your email and I will send you what I have. I thought it was a PIA last year but some brainstorming has put fur on the ground this year. My plans still need tweaked but it works.
