Which Electronic call to buy?
After returning from a Hog Hunt in Texas I think I should get a Varmint call to carry in my Samuari. Being new to all this I'm thinking a Battery operated one is the way to go? Now, which one to buy? What do you guys recommend?

The FoxPro units are great if you can afford their exorbitant price. I've noticed that the Johnny Stewart PM e-callers are getting much cheaper in price these days. The only drawback to them is having to purchase sound cards. However, many a tournament has been won using the PM-3 and 4.

p.s. There is a FoxPro topic about 11 lines down from this one in the Varmint Hunting index with a little info.

Why buy one when you can build one for just a bit over $50.00.

Mine works great and so do many of the others who built one.

a MP3 player Casset player or a cd player for the sounds.
Get the soounds from Varmit Al's web site & others.

You might want to consider a hand call. They're cheap, portable, quick-to-set-up and easy to use. And, they WORK!

Alleyyooper,

I agree! A cheep mp3 player with a good collection of sound tracks with battery powered laptop speakers is a cheep, expandable solution. Most cell phones also are mp3 players as well. I've got a selection on my phone that works great for to get 'em in close. Just remember to turn your phone to 'airplane' use so it won't take a call or text in the middle of a dying rabbit squeal.

I also put crow fight sounds on it to call crows. works real well for the money invested.

Hey Larry!

I used a cheap homemade mp3 caller for years and had little success, except with crows.

I just bought a Foxpro Spitfire, and called in three coyotes this past weekend. I found it for less than $180 on amazon, and I'm sold.
