Driving home from Golden Corral (yes, I am a big spender) with my wife and retired neighbors we spot a strange animal scurrying into the small woods south of my house. It was about 8PM. My wife and I both thought it was a coyote. We weren't quite sure, so the next day we ask my young neighbor if he ever saw a coyote around. He mentioned that he hears them all the time in the orange groves across the big canal south of me about a 1000 feet or so.
This happened a week a go. Christmas eve, I heard the coyotes for the first time around 1230 AM. Hidious howling.
Today my wife asked me to look at the fence in front of the house. It was dug out about 2feet wide and almost a foot deep. Enough for an animal to go under. I have a bit of poultry on my property, so I think they are attracting some kind of varmits.
We were heading out this evening to visit with my son and saw a coyote slip into the same woods south of my property.
I am quite fond of my ducks so I purchased an electronic call tonight and will lay ambush on this fellow.
Since I am in a rural/residential area, does anyone have any ideas?

Personally, I would snare them at the hole under the fence. Incidentally I saw a pure black coyote in FL a couple years ago.

I had to fill the hole under the fence to keep the ducks in.

If coyotes are trying to get the ducks, likely there will be a new hole soon!

This is a grand opportunity for any archer, just ask-around & you might be very surprised at the responses. Then, practice the "3 S" solution:

Shoot.
Shovel.
Silence.

Likely the yotes will follow the fence looking for a way to get to the ducks,any place that forces them into a narrow spot would still be great for a snare and it dosn't make any noise!

I suggest a strand of electric fence outside the wooden fence. $100 at Tractor supply will keep your ducks safe. A medium sized dog would help, too.
