ChiefR53Can I hunt squirrels in N CA in June?
I understand the hunting is dependant on the height of the crops. I may be able to be in the Surprise Valley area in June. Is hunting possible? Who do I contact? Chamber of Comm?
Thanks for any help

It's not really "dependant" on the crops, it has to do with the height of the alfalfa. The taller the alfalfa, the more cover for the squirrels and it's hard to see them. The best shooting I've had is early before the first cutting, but it can also be very good in between cuttings. By the end of June or sometimes early July, the squirrels go back in the ground till the next spring.

ChiefR53Craigster, thank you for your reply. Sounds like it would be pretty iffy in mid June. We went to the Goose Lake area last April but for whatever reason got very fow shots. The little bit of action we got made me want to go back when it is good. Nothing like that in Georgia!
Thanks
Larry
