Re: I ordered a Dakota Arms "Predator in .20 VarTarg"
sharpsman the Predator is as I mentioned built by Dakota Arms and Miller Arms together using a Nesika action (famous in benchrest circles) and Lilga's barrels . They are offering a bunch of wildcat calibers (which is a great thing) and in the test in S.C.N. they said they had numerous 3 shot groups in the low .1's.
Some of the calibers offered are things like .17 or .20 VarTarg, .17 or .20 Tactical, .17 or .20 PPC, .17 or .20BR, as well as numerous factory rounds from .204 .221 Fireball and many more. They will have 2 configurations sporter and varmint (that's what I ordered).
Price is not fully established yet but Dakota says it's less that $2,000.00. To put that into perspective most Dakotas start around $3,500.00 and go up. Having put together a fair number of custom rifles I can assure you by the time you get the rifle, barrel and all the components put together, $2,000.00 and groups in the .1's ain't no bad deal.
Is it March yet???

Man, that sounds like a sweet rig! A buffoon such as I cannot be trusted with something so exquisite so earlier this week I bought a CZ in .17 Remington.

March cannot get here fast enough!

Doug I suggested that Dakaota to you lol. I am glad someone has less will power than me LOL. I just picked up a 700 ADL in 223 and got a 20 Duster reamer coming. If I can get my hands on Jim's 17 Javelina reamer for my 722 I will have to stop for a while. Now I have to pick a barrel maker.
Near as I can figure You could not have a Predator built by any smith for less than 2000.00. Hell a Lilja barrel is $300 and a Nesika action is $900.00. Hell till you buy a reamer a stock and get someone to screw it together having one built does not make sense.
Oh by the way 12.4grs of N-120, Fed 205primer and a 20gr V-max in the 17AH is shooting bugholes in 43 degree temps with no pressure signs.
