So far so good.
I don't start hunting predators untill Dec. 14 (ID Cat opener) and even though there hasn't been any snow for tracking Cats with the dogs, it's been a pretty productive week.




Field sports are not about targets and scores. Score-keeping is necessary in competitions between humans, unattractive in competitions with weaker adversaries. Constant scores of many to zero do not smell of struggle and chance. They smell of greed.

Just a Henry Frontier in 22Mag.
I normally use it for treed Coon and Cat but the area I was calling was pretty thick, and I had a new peep sight I wanted to try so I took it. Won't be using it again for calling though. It definatly killed the Cat (double lung at 30 +/- yrds), but not before she dived into the thickest briar patch on the mountain. Took me forever to find and dig her out of there without the help of a dog.
It's perfect for treed critters, just lets the air out and they politly fall out, but for calling I'll stick with my 17Rem or 17FB.

I always wanted to tree a bobcat, all of my hound time was spent at night treeing coons.


The plott brings up memories of the early nineties. I used to hunt with Rex Morgan and Morgan's Bayou Jake once and a while. He became a very well known Plott Hound.

Yea,,, I discourage that behavior but some times ol Sally just can't help her self.


I don't run Coyotes with the dogs either. That one was actually caught in one of my Cat traps.


I don't do that much calling any more. I really prefer trapping and catching a few with my Cur Dogs these days.
PS,,, Sally's a Mtn Cur, but she does indeed have a tich of Plott (and a pinch of Red Bone). Wink

Your dog brings tears to my eyes , I grew up hunting river bottom squirrels with a cur that could pass as a twin of your gal way back in early 60's. Fantastic !!
