Gerhard.DelportDaylight calling Africa style
I had a couple of days off from work and spend it on the Mpumalanga province escarpment.
I had to shoot 4 blesbuck for meat for the farmer...
Here is 2 rams I hunted on Saturday morning.
With the meat hanging in the cold room by 16:00 I decided to take a hike into one of the ridges and do a late afternoon calling session.
The area where I called is around 6500ft above sea level... It gets dark quickly.
Moved into the top of a ridge and settled down ...
Called for about 20 min before I heard a jackal vocalizing on the other side of the ridge.
I sneaked over to that side of the ridge and could just make out the jackal at 350 yards...
Settled into position and gave him a short squeeck of a jack rabit.
He responded in a flash and came in hard.
I stoped him at 100 yards or so and rolled him with a 40 gr VMax from the 222Rem.
Photo from stand ....
And the result...
On Monday night I introduce the dark art of predator calling to the next generation of callers.
The result ....
I think the smile says it all
At the end of the trip I called in and killed 23 jackal.
