Tally Ho, an open reed call that I can really vary the sounds and volume with.

I am curious what are some of the favorite predator calls used by hunters on this page. No electronics.

My all time favorite is the Tally Ho.A former US Govt.ADC man showed me how to use one 20 years ago and I've used them a lot since then.



I've called game from Alaska to Maryland and from New Mexico to Alberta with the dang things.In IMHO they are the most versitile predator call made.They are also among the most difficult to master being an open reed call.



I like the small Critt'r calls(another open reed) and Several of the Sceery Closed reed calls.Also ,the Sceery variable pitch call is a good one ,too.



Of the Custom calls made,Al Woodard's THO calls are mighty fine in both workmanship and sound.I called several 'yotes in with mine the first time I used it..

My favorites are some of my custom calls. However, of the production calls available, I would have the Ed Sceery AP-3 Closed Reed Jackrabbit, the Burnham Brothers Mini-Blaster, and the Crit'R-Call Pee Wee or Standard Open Reed in my fanny pack. These three will do about anything you need to do in the field.

You know, I probably have too darned many of these things, ranging from hand made wood calls from Wyoming to lots of plastic do-hickeys.

But when push comes to shove, I guess my favorite are those made by Sceery. He offers a bunch of good cals.

Actually, my dad has an old call that is labeled as a Pied Piper call. The company was bought out and I have contacted the folks who own it now. The calls have changed some, but they are still awfully good, as well.

Most of the calls on the market work reasonably well. I think it is a good thing to vary your calls from time to time.

I have seen predators very conditioned to calls. One place where we used to have good success has been ruined by a fool who calls then shoots at everything at five or six hundred yards. What an idiot! He has everything in that county so call shy that HE should be shot! If you should spot a coyote in this area and then blow a varmint call it will haul ass like you have never seen!

My suggestion is to buy several and try them out, they are not that expensive. After a while you will find what works for you.

I can vouch for GonHuntin's calls. I own one and they sound as good as they look!

I have a hand call that is just gathering dust.....My favorite caller is my Loudmouth e-caller. It does everything I need to hunt coyote, fox and crows here in Wisconsin.
