Donald Nelson.223 and Nosler Varmageddon's.
Today I got my first kill with the Nosler 55 grain Varmadeddon FBHP bullets and I am happy.
Shot was 200 yards give or take a bit with my Remington VTR .223 1:9 twist.
I bought these to try from Shooters Pro Shop as factory seconds and they shoot great out of said rifle.
The hog was standing up looking in my direction and I hit below chest level. I was holding about shoulder level allowing for drop as I am sighted in at 100 yards. Good solid thawap sound told me I connected and when I got to the little guy he was slumped in his hole. I was surprised to only see a small blood spot at entrance and no exit. While I am new to the .223 for Ghogs I was still shocked the bullet made such an instant kill on a low hit without blowing the guy apart. That bullet must explode inside. Hopefully I will get more testing and hope results remain the same. I like this bullet.

Donald NelsonI loaded them with 25.5 grains of IMR 4895 and CCI small rifle primers. That group got me 3 shots in 7/16 at 100 yards.

swampshooterThaks for posting your report. I'm always interested, but can't try every combination out myself. I'll try this one though.

I just got a jar of Hodgdon's CFE222 powder and plan to try it with these bullets. What I have read about this powder looks good. Plan on trying it in .223 and .308 soon.

hemiallenVery interesting to see someone using the IMR version of 4895. I have a bunch and need to give it a try one of these sessions.
I really like the Varmegeddon plastic tip versions in 17 aned 22 caliber.
