Rob1SGMini 14 for coyotes
I have a friend with a Mini 14 in 223. He wants to coyote hunt with me and has put a scope on it. What velocity can we expect from factory ammo?

Lawdog_GaryRob1SG,
I have found that any standard factory load with 50 grain bullets seemed to work well through my Mini 14. I imagine your calling coyotes so range isn't that important as the accuracy on most standard Mini's isn't anything to brag about. Lawdog

Pecos41Rob - I suspect he will get 3,000+...but as Lawdog suggests...velocity isn't the issue. What he had better worry about is the accuracy of the Mini-14. They are NOT terribly accurate rifles. Assuming his rifle isn't just a total dog, I imagine he will do OK out to 200 yds.

p dog shooterI have shot a few yotes with my mini 14's i would feel really well out to 200. I would not give a yote much of a chance at 300. I shoot 55 gr sp in mine. But then I am using a ranch rifle with a good scope. They are lots of fun when you have one running in the open.
