calgarychef1electronic calls
Looks like the regs have been changed in Alberta and this year we can use electronic calls. Anyone here use one and which one do you like best. Is there anything decent with a remote control that can be had for around $250 bucks? Bass pro hege has one for almost $500 and that aint cheap. I was also considering making one but I really want something that's remote controlled and mp3 not a tape.
thanks

Bob in TX......or call FOXPRO and order one of their refurbished 416LR's for about $225-$235. They will program any 16 sounds you want and come with the TX-5 Long Range Remote.
Congrats on the change in the law!
Good Hunting,
Bob

stepchild 2Bob,
I just went to Fox Pro's W/S, I'm impressed with the variety of sounds, covers about most critters on the planet.
Do those refurbs come with chargers?
Thanks for the heads up.

DMBI have a Minaska that has 100 calls on it. Would have bought a Fox-Pro, but they were way behind on production at that time.
Not sorry about the Minasks however. It does call in Coyotes.

I went with the Foxpro FX3. I probably could have made one, but its awful easy to pick up the phone or order one on line. Whats the old line about a fool and his money?. Well I don't regret it one bit. I'm going on my third year with this caller and nary a hiccup.
Whether you make one your self or purchase a ready made, it adds a whole new dimension to your hunting. I have a ball with mine. I stand hunt for hogs all year long. Before I climb up in a stand, I will set my caller out about 30 yds or so, sometimes with a decoy. I can't tell you how much enjoyment it brings. This year just before spring turkey, I was sitting in a stand one evening with the express purpose of popping a hog. Well where I'm at, hogs usually show up just before dead dark. I'll get out about two hours before and set up the call. This particular evening I called in a fine longbeard gobbler within 30 yds, and a nice grey fox. Hogs came in later. I've got to where I do more varminting than anything else.

chris112You might want to go over to Predator Master's and ask the same question. Those guys can go for days on this subject and a week later do it again. Their tech page also tells how to build your own for use with whatever sound source you like; MP3, CD player or tape player. I think they also have some information on making the thing remote.

Predator Master's is a good place to visit; good people, and some very good knowledge there too.
