I like Sweets. It's also great for removing unwanted nose hair. Whew, that's some foul smelling stuff. I use nylon brushes, but only the ones sold by Sinclair. The bristles seem stronger than the other nylon brushes. Remember, you're going to do a lot of scrubbing the bore with Sweets so you want stiff bristles. Copper fouls in layers so you may not get it all out the first or second time. You'll win your battle with copper fouling, but it isn't easy. Best wishes.

Yet another vote for Wipe-out. Worked great on an old 30-06 that had not been cleaned well in years, decades maybe.

Yes, Wipe Out makes Sweets obsolete.

I used to swear by Sweets 7.62 and would go through a couple bottles of Sweets a year, haven't even picked one up since trying Wipe-Out. It's that good.

Rifles were cleaned with Sweets until no more fouling came out. Then Wipe-Out was applied to soak overnight. The next morning, I got blue jello out of a rifle that Sweets had said was clean.

When I first started using Wipe Out, I was so excited, I went through every gun in the safe, looking for another one to clean.

Also degrades lead, powder and plastic wad fouling enough to flake out with a few passes of a bore brush.

FWIW, I believe that JB bore paste is much more efficient at removing "carbon" fouling than it is at removing copper.

just brake out the sweets. This is the most aggressive copper remover I know of. Or use wipe out, but if you do soak it and let it sit over night then repeat this process until you get it all out. if you use sweets Don't let the sweets sit in the bore too long

Outer's Foul-Out works for me. Just set up the gizmo and let it run overnight and it removes 100% of the copper fouling. Afterwrds, I have to shoot about 5 foulers to get a little copper back in the bore so the sighting is restored (shoots to a different place with absolutely no copper in the barrel), and I'm good to go for another 100 rounds or so.

LDHunter,
For varmint hunting accuracy the 6PPC should last a loooonnnnggggg time. The 6BR isn't to bad if you allow a reasonable period of time between shots. You can wear a barrel out quickly in a busy p-dog town. Jim

try some wipe out and also use the new wipeout accelerator along with it. seems to speed up the process a little.

I like Sweets and Barnes CR-10 as well, but they are really labor intensive. If you are using either, watch your brushes. Most of the synthetics are rather flimsy and don't work well. The ones from Sinclair are the exception and hold up well. My problem is I range fire 11 different calibers, and can easily spend the better part of my life getting the copper out of the barrels. It really becomes a major chore. I've considered spending the money for an Outers Fould Out rod. Does anyone here know if they are worth the expense? Best wishes.

Its not wipe out, but outers has a similar product. Its in a small red can and says foaming bore cleaner, bought at walmart for seven bucks works the same way after a half hour blue was dripping out the front of the barrel. Also gunslick(which I think is also outers) has the same thing in a blue can.
