Groove BulletsWoodchuck Hunters?
Finally my "chuck" season started off this past Monday. Killed the chuck, double lung shot, at 535 yards with my 22 CHeetah MK 1.
Any other woodchuck (aka groundhog) hunters out there?

jethroJust took my first last Sunday off the deck. It was a 230 yd chest shot with my 22-250 Stealth.
535 yds? Nice shootin'Don!!!
I have been shooting crows with my 22 CHeetah mkII mostly waiting for the woodchucks to have their young so we have more targets later in the summer. I hope to go out this weekend and start racking up the numbers though!
How about a Stevens single shot 20 ga. w/slugs from 25 yards? WITH duct tape attachment of forearm to barrel.
I sit in an old grain shed across the road from the rocks where they like to sun themselves.
(a banjo begins to play in the distance)
Another one here! I am up three chucks and one very large coon this spring (not much time to get out!)
I am low budget-nef ultra 223. works like a charm.

Cal SibleyWell, I thought I was a woodchuck hunter, but if you're popping them at 535yds. I'm not in your class. My longest kill was 325yds. with a custom .22-250. I've been hunting the little critters for about 30 years or so. You're using a Cheetah? That's about as good as it gets. Best wishes.

groundhog devastationYou've got an accomplice in VA!!! Groundhog Devastation!!! Would rather hunt groundhogs than eat when hungry! More fun than eatin beans!!! Officially opened up the season Memorial Day by shooting 6. 4 with the 25-06 and 2 with the 17HMR. Have got 15 so far. All the young ones are big enough to make it now so all is fair game!! The rain has made for a horrendous haymaking season and also corn planting! Whenever it driesout and we can mow and finish planting it will be time to get serious!! In the mean time I've been piddling with an old 700VS from way back(fleur-de-lis checkering and absolutely stock as far as bedding goes) that I opened up to 243AI last week. First tested loads were 44 grains of Varget and both the 58 and 65 grain VMax's. Both in the .4s for 5 shot groups! May be a potential "hog killer"!!! Actually 4/5 shots using the 65 grains went into .179. Might have to try that one some more! GHD
